FUTURE PLANS
There is such a lot that can be done to a standard car that the mind boggles just thinking about it.
There are some even basic upgrades , like brakes and suspension which are very cheap but extremely cost effective in terms of safety and comfort.
But Phase one, demands a quick return to the road, for general use, before expansion plans are considered.
INTERIOR
This was how part of the interior had looked, before I took the car on .
I am hoping to do a full refurbishment on this with trim, seating and carpets with making them look a little more up to date in both comfort, soundproofing and safety-so watch this space.
Early in 2011, I received news from a forum member "Huzey", that he had some seats that were early" Rocaro",and he was taking them out of his 2 door Saloon. They looked just the job. I wanted a particular type of design feature to help me ,with ease of use due to my lack of mobility-these looked ideal.
It was a real bonus when he also said his chum had the rear seats set to go with them.
As I was kicking my heels at present, by collecting them I could do some hands on work that was not too demanding.

ENGINE
There were a number of items missing when I got the car, but here is a shot I obtained showing what should where.
I have since had additional help from Mogmad 56 , and Big Al with a couple of items and have purchased all new electicals for the ingnition system

BOOT AREA
UNDERSIDE
One of the forum members offered to introduce me to Mig welding-thanks Woodywoodchipper.
So once a week I will be attending his workshop so he can put me through the paces.
Well I can tell you I have been going over for a month now and I feel I am learning far more than welding.
Alan is presently working on his Sons 2 Door Saloon and I am not only being given the chance to pick up practical tips on using his Mig Welder, but watching him work and seeing what panel goes where is absolutely in valuable.

PAINTWORK
This is the top part of the Cars Bonnet, the paintwork, whilst does not look too bad from a distance, has totally broken down.
It's so bad that the crazing and starring make the whole thing look like a picture taken from the Hubble Telescope, with galaxies and star lines viewed from a long way off.
Here's the cars history in Top coat colours.
Bare quite rusty metal underneath- then orange base coat which reminds me of Orange Oxide paint then, grey undercoat, then the original Top coat Yukon Grey- no doubt applid in 1960, as the car was first registered in 1961.
Then a succession of colour changes through the 7 owners starting with Topcoat White,Top coat Red-ish,Top coat pale Yellow ,and present Top coat Maroon Burgundy.
It is hoped to find a decent "Battleship Grey- of the lighter Mediterranean hue " to return it to. I like the idea of returning it to a Grey ,which it was originally, but I find the Yukon Grey too dense a colour for me to take that big step. But we shall see there's a lot of Bodywork to be done before paint is considered.
It may end up blood-red, from all that I shall spill working on it.

Here is a cut away view of the many different body colours that "Phoenix" has been during here 50 years.
It looks like "Red Lead-Undercoat-Yukon Grey-White-Red-Yellow-and finally Maroon
