Body Colour and Interior trim
After doing some research, and removing both the front and rear window screens, I found out that the car was originally Yukon Grey.
The Interior trim was Maroon as it was when it left the factory, but was in dire need of total replacement.
I liked the idea of returning it to a Grey colour, but perhaps not such a dense shade, maybe nearer English Grey or a lighter version of Dove Grey.
I am having some fairly straight talking from "Boy Blunder" ,he is helping me along the way. He thinks that Grey is going to make it look like an unfinished-basic coat primer car.
If both my Kids want to chip in at the right time, and buy me a full respray, then I may change my mind from grey all together !As I do not think that will happen any time soon, I shall content myself by " thinking Grey"
According to the various layers of exterior paint, it has been re painted with lots of colours since leaving the factory, including white, yellow, grey again and finally a shade of Maroon red or maybe Burgandy, not bad for 49 years. The last coat was put on so badly that it is starred, cracked and blistered to such an extent it is flaking off.
Looking at the picture on the heading of the website, which was taken not long before I collected the car. This project will be the only one in history where the car looks better at the start, that it will at the end !

This is the present state of external paintwork
It is interesting to note that some blemishes on the roof of the car looked suspciously horse like or Llama shaped-which was very amusing to some forum members ,when I posted the pictures.
But our Sites resident technical expert, Jono, gave quite an elequent explanation of the reasons why the last, unproffissional ,paint job had failed so badly.

INTERIOR
The interior was in great need of a complete make-over.
It is my intention to update the complete interior. I will produce a more comfortable, safer and warmer saloon area, without making too many structural changes which cannot be returned to standard, should it be so wished in the future.
